What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on?
My favorite project I have worked on was preparing a budget analysis for a Women’s Shelter in northern Minnesota. This project was special to me because the entire project team was female industry professionals. This project was estimated during the schematic design phase so there were many opportunities for collaboration between the project team.
How did you get started in the construction industry?
I was always fascinated with structure, how systems worked together, & loved old architecture/city planning. In high school, I had a teacher tell me I should marry my passion & talent to pursue a career in construction management. I later declared CM as my major & joined the workforce years later.
How are you celebrating Women in Construction Week?
I reflect by sharing a time when I was viewed unequally & how that situation helped me grow stronger in my abilities/confidence. I do this to bring awareness & hopefully empower others. This year, I’m sharing a time when I was asked “Is it bring your daughter to work day?” by a subcontractor.
